Adventure Tuesday

Join us each Tuesday for some amazing adventure ideas that you can do on your computer, at home, or around Albany!

After School Basic Sewing (Ages 9-12)

Students will learn the basics of sewing with a machine as well as by hand. Projects will be varied to keep students excited!

After School Teen Sewing Sessions (Ages 13-16)

Students will learn to use patterns to create garments and other projects. Use of a sewing machine and hand sewing will be covered.

Albany Gems Dance Team (GRADES 3-8)

Do you love to dance? Are you interested in joining an awesome team? The Albany Gems Dance Team, a program offered through Albany Parks and Recreation, provides great opportunities to develop skills and the attitude youth need to be successful! Dancers learn fitness, nutrition, teamwork, and valuable life skills all while being part of a team.

Camp Albany & Water Awareness

It seems like much of life has gone virtual, but kids still need to be active and spend time with their peers! In partnership with the Albany Community Pool, Camp Albany is returning this fall to offer daily homework help, art, STEM, and physical activities, in addition to swimming and water safety skills. This program has support from GAPS - we recommend parents contact your child's teacher directly to discuss their schedule.

Hip Hoppers (Ages 5-7)

Hip hoppers will learn basic hip hop moves and fun dance routines set to hit music. This class will teach basic leaps, turns, and tumbling while helping develop an overall sense of rhythm. The steps are sure to make kids groove to the beat in their own jazzy style!

Slash Into Music (Ages 5-7)

This energetic movement and music class will keep your kiddo moving! Dancers will explore instruments and dance while they participate in activities that encourage collaboration and movement.

Tumbling 1&2 (Ages 5-7)

Somersault, roll, and jump for fun! This class teaches the basics of tumbling and gymnastics as well as other floor movements. Tumbling skills, walking across the balance beam, and jumping on a mini-trampoline will develop healthy muscles, enhance flexibility, and get your child moving.

Virtual Kidz Love Soccer (Classes for Ages 2-10)

Kidz Love Soccer livestream programs are 30-minute classes presented over the Internet. Participants join class using the ZOOM meeting client and connect through any web browser. Kids need only a ball to kick, space to play and an internet connected device to join our class.

Winter Wonderland Way

Come see the lights and hear the sounds of the holiday season from the safety of your own car! There will be fun goodies to collect along the way and a special visit from Santa!

Aqua Jog

Aqua jogging is a group fitness class with a trained professional teaching for about an hour. The classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere sometimes with music.

Household Recreation Swim

Gather up the entire family for some fun in the pool! Members of the same household are invited to come and swim together. Adults are required with anyone under age 16.

Lap Swim

Lap Swim is exactly what it sounds like - swimming laps! Do your own personal training routine. When the shallow end is available, walking is permitted.

Personal Exercise

Aqua jogging is so fun & popular. This is not an instructor led session and participants must remain socially distanced from other participants. Flotation devices are available.

Senior Fitness

Senior Fitness is a group fitness class with a trained professional teaching for 45 minutes. The classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable social atmosphere sometimes with music.

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics is a group fitness class with a trained professional instuctor. The classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere sometimes with music.

Youth Swim Lessons

Make a splash with swim lessons at Albany Community Pool! Learning to swim teaches skills to be safe in the water and so much more. Swimming builds self confidence, develops self-esteem and makes water a safe, fun environment for a lifetime. We are focused on developing strong swimmers and confident kids.

Level I Tennis (Ages 6-12)

This class is designed for students ages 6-12. Introduction to tennis with small rackets as needed. Featuring eye-hand coordination, learning drills, while having fun. The beginning elements of the game are covered.

Level II Tennis (Ages 6-12)

This class is designed for students ages 6-12. Basic fundamentals are stressed with an emphasis on forehand, backhand,, and serve with an introduction to volley. Learning to score and playing fun games is included.

Level III Tennis (Middle/High School)

This class is designed for Middle and High School students. Players that come from level II, plan to play high school tennis, or Rookie tournaments. Players will focus on improving strokes as well as singles and doubles play.

Pee Wee Tennis (Ages 4-5)

This class is designed for students ages 4-5 (sometimes 3-usually with a sibling or friend) Introduction to tennis with small rackets. Featuring eye-hand coordination, learning drills, while having fun. The beginning elements of the game are covered.

Pickleball - Adult, Youth, Middle School & High School Round Robin Doubles

This program is designed for those who desire to play pickleball in a social and fun round robin style.

Pickleball Level I (Ages 8-12)

This class is designed for students ages 8-12. An introduction to pickleball, forehand, backhand, volley. Serve and how to score and play are also covered.

Pickleball Level II (Ages 13-18)

This class is designed for students ages 13-18. Forehand, backhand, volley and serve are practiced with an emphasis on play and stradegy.

There’s more to Oregon than you probably know. These classes will examine the rich and diverse history of our state and will include topics covering Oregon’s frontier heritage and its role in American history from pre-European contact all the way to the modern era. This course is enlightening, fun, and out of the ordinary.

Practice letter forms and handwriting in this class that will help you fine-tune your artistic talents. This class also covers calligraphy related art and crafts including bookbinding, basic watercolor, and more.

Zumba/Zumba Toning - Session 2 (Fall)

Zumba/Zumba Toning provides a total body workout using easy to follow choreographed dance moves to combine elements of fitness-cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility. Zumba Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise because they are super effective and amazingly fun.

Senior Holiday Meal To-Go  New!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! While we can’t enjoy a meal together in person, we can still provide a scrumptious meal to warm your spirits. Yes, dessert is included! Swing through the Senior Center parking lot for your holiday meal to-go or schedule it to be delivered to your home. Reservations are required.

Adopt-a-Park Program

Albany Parks & Recreation’s Adopt-A-Park program is a way for individuals, groups, or businesses to show their pride and commitment to the city's parks and green spaces. With your help, we can keep our city parks beautiful, clean, and safe.

Teen Volunteer Program at Bowman Park (Nov 4)

Are you between the ages of 13-18? Join us for this amazing session and get hands on experience learning elements of Natural Resource Management. We will be planting native trees and weeding around existing plantings along Periwinkle Creek and the Willamette River to enhance riparian and floodplain function as part of an ongoing restoration project.
